Got this in preparation for a job interview in my hospitals Health Informaiton Management department.
Caduceus is crooked on mine, so you can either wear the tie clasp slightly canted in order to straighten the caduceus. Or straighten the tie clasp, and the caduceus is canted at a weird angle.... Either way, it just looks off - and even if you don't notice it outright, our brains can sense something is off when things dont line up that should - angles stick out.
The USMC tie clasp I wanted wouldnt arrive in time, and I couldnt find my service issue one anywhere. Decided to go with this caduceus clasp as it fit right in with the medical field and would be a subtle nod if you will to my attention to detail.
I put a great deal of thought into my interview preparation, from buffing up my CV, to the weight and color/style of the paper it was printed on, and on to making sure I got a haircut four days before the interview to give it just enough time to grow out - or for me to grow into it. Picked neutral colors, grey dress shirt, black paisley tie, new shoes I had worn for a week or so before so they would be broken in, but still look sharp, leather messenger bag with padfolio.
Then I got the tie clasp in the mail, and was sorely disappointed.
Had to wear a plain metal tie clasp and am in the process of returning it now.
Had I been able to wear the clasp, who knows....maybe I would have gotten that job.
